The holidays are upon us, and if you are anything like me, you love a beautiful Tablescape.
Tablescapes are inviting and add great appeal to the meal that will be served on it. I mean it’s all about the presentation right? Well here are a few items I like to include in my Tablescape for Thanksgiving, as well as where to shop for them.
Select a theme:
The best thing about the holidays is that we celebrate them the way we want. Traditional colors and meal plans will always be in, but it’s fun to deviate and place your own special touch on it.
Tableware:
With kids, I have to be mindful when using plates and glasses, but decorative paper plates and cups for the little ones will save you time in the kitchen after the meal has been served, and still gives the feeling that they are having a special meal.
For the adults – there’s no holding back. Give me all the fancy flatware, plates, napkins with the decorative napkin holders, and serving platters.
Coordinated Linens:
Tablecloths, napkins, etc: Cloth or plastic, it is up to you, but during the holidays, our dining tables get alot of love in terms of use. Using a tablecloth of your liking will preserve your table and help you save time with cleanup. Some use the holidays to step things up a notch, so don’t be afraid to use cloth napkins. Paper napkins will save you time in the laundry room, but for the holidays I think it’s worth the atmosphere.
Centerpieces:
The centerpiece is the highlight of your table. Besides the meal, the centerpiece will be a topic of conversation at the dinner table if done right. Fresh flowers are always nice, but faux-flowers work just as well and are cost-effective. Your local dollar store will have a variety of vases and faux-flowers to create a centerpiece worthy of your family’s time. If you decide on using fresh-flowers, be sure to get the appropriate flower food and change the water out every few days to get the most out of them. One trick to preserve your fresh flowers is to place a penny in the bottom of the vase. The copper helps to ward off bacteria and fungi which can kill the flowers.
Here are a few of my favorite inspirational table scape pictures found on Pinterest. Enjoy and happy creating…. xo Meka
