Real Talk Thursday: Back Where It All Began

Yesterday, I took Elle back to where it all began… Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem is where all of my babies were born and raised, except Axel, since we moved when he was just 1. Driving into the city felt like flipping through a photo album. So many memories, so many versions of me, so many firsts for my family.

A friend who sees the vision

We went to visit my girl Jodie Brim of Jodie Brim Creative. If you don’t know her, you need to! Jodie is a true gem… a friend, a mentor, and a business professional all in one.

She’s always pouring into me, even when I can’t see the vision for myself. She sees it, and she cheers me on every step of the way. On top of that, she gifts me her expertise so generously. I respect her time and her business so much, but she’s also one of the most genuine, giving people I know. I’m so blessed to call her my FRIEND!

Watching my baby girl WERK

Jodie gifted Elle a graduation photo session, and you guys… the pictures are AMAZING. Here’s a sneak peek that I took on my cellphone during the session

It felt so good and so inspiring to be back in the studio with Jodie. This time, though, I wasn’t in front of the camera. I got to stand back and watch my baby girl put in WERKKKK. The outfits, the poses, the confidence… I was in complete awe of the creation God blessed me with in my daughter.

I still can’t believe she’s a senior. We’re officially winding down to graduation, and every milestone hits a little different now. Proud Mommy moment doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Feeling like me again

This trip reminded me of something. For the first time in a long time, I finally feel like myself again.

I’m ready to create.
I’m ready to grow.
I’m ready to live the life I’ve dreamt of, with the people I love dearly.

Sometimes you have to go back to where it all began to remember how far you’ve come… and how much more is ahead.
